Intune, Microsoft’s hosted management service, offers mobile device management and application management for devices running Windows 10, macOS, iOS, and Android. Enhancements to the service over the past year should help organizations enroll and manage devices more efficiently and enable conditional access. The service is available stand-alone but, increasingly, new features being added require other services included in the Enterprise Mobility + Security suite.
Range of Management Capabilities
Microsoft Intune (formerly Windows Intune) manages the lifecycle of mobile devices and applications on them, offering mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM). It is available solely as a hosted service from Microsoft.
Device Management
Intune supports MDM-based management of Windows 10, macOS, iOS, and Android devices. MDM-based management uses industry-standard protocols and capabilities built into the OS to manage devices without the need to install an agent on each managed device.
