Analyst ReportEvaluating Office 365 Services
- Office 365 services can help some organizations reduce costs, quickly adjust capacity, and improve reliability and security.
- Migration costs, licensing costs, and compliance risks could outweigh the benefits for organizations with heavily customized on-premises systems.
Office 365 delivers Microsoft-hosted services such as Exchange Online e-mail and on-premises software such as the Office desktop suite under a Per-User subscription license. This report summarizes the major factors to weigh when considering a move from on-premises or third-party data centers to Office 365 hosted services.
Office 365 Services Overview
The Office 365 brand includes Office suite client application software and application services that run in Microsoft data centers, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Skype for Business Online. Office 365 services are part of a larger set of Microsoft-hosted application services. Some of these services share technology with, and can replace and in some cases integrate with, Microsoft server applications deployed on-premises, while others have no direct on-premises equivalents.
