Analyst ReportPowerApps Administration
- PowerApps promises rapid business application development for more users.
- It offers more central control than technologies it replaces, but presents new security, compliance, and administrative challenges.
- Management interfaces are still primitive, and administrators will need to visit several places to have full control.
PowerApps is a graphical application development environment that lets users with various levels of programming expertise create Azure-hosted applications that can present data for viewing and editing. PowerApps is rapidly gaining features and, alongside the companion Microsoft Flow workflow service, is the preferred (and sometimes only) way to create customizations for services like SharePoint Online. Microsoft promotes PowerApps for use by non-expert developers, and it offers modern features not available in older technologies like Access. However, many organizations will need to centrally manage the service to avoid security, data protection, cost, and support problems.
