  • The OneDrive for Business Online feature roadmap shows improvements for administrators and end users.
  • Administrative changes could improve deployment, compliance, and data loss prevention.
  • User-level changes enable features in other applications and could help with rescuing accidentally deleted files.

The OneDrive for Business Online service provides Microsoft-hosted storage for files in document libraries that can be accessed by users through a Web browser, Windows File Explorer, and the File Open and Save dialog boxes of applications such as those that comprise Office 365 ProPlus. OneDrive for Business Online works across multiple client platforms and applications, although its capabilities depend on the type of document library and client.

OneDrive for Business Online focuses on document libraries for individual Office 365 users. SharePoint Online is more commonly used for files shared across a team or organization, and OneDrive provides Microsoft-hosted storage for consumers with Microsoft accounts, although the services share technical underpinnings and are often accessed side by side in client software.
