High performance, dynamically tunable without restarting host VMs. Same availability levels as other disk types.

Consistent performance with low-latency and high availability for production workloads.

Consistent performance for low IOPS workloads. Better availability and latency than Standard HDD disks.

Low-cost mass storage for infrequent access using conventional disk drives. Performance can vary.

Use scenarios

I/O-intensive workloads such as SAP HANA, top-tier databases (for example, SQL Server, Oracle), and other transaction-heavy workloads.

Enterprise workloads, such as SQL Server, Dynamics, Exchange Server, MongoDB, and other production workloads.

Web servers, low IOPS application servers, and lightly used enterprise applications.
