Screenshot shows the Windows Copilot icon on the taskbar, which brings up the Windows Copilot side pane. Windows Copilot is a plugin that sits on top of the existing OS and provides a natural language interface to Windows and other application-specific AI-enabled plugins. A user might access Windows Copilot to review configuring an OS setting, or use OS functions and tools such as cut, copy, and paste or Snap Assist and the Snipping Tool. When used with AI-enabled plugins for applications, Windows Copilot can help the user rewrite, summarize, or explain content. Windows Copilot capitalizes on Microsoft’s investment in OpenAI natural language models.

To access Windows Copilot, Windows 11 gets a new icon on the taskbar (next to the current search textbox). Once invoked, Windows Copilot appears in a side pane, which can be docked.

Windows Copilot will begin appearing in Insider builds of Windows 11 in June 2023 and will arrive later in builds in the general availability channels.
