  • Azure Service Health is a free service that gives customers preconfigured Azure status monitoring to help keep applications available and investigate downtime.
  • Alerts and notifications to push issues to personnel and applications can be configured through Azure Service Health, but they use the fee-based Azure Monitor.
  • A separate public Azure Status Web site shows service availability and historical events that have affected availability.

Azure Service Health is a central location in the Azure portal for customers to view general and deployment-specific downtime information on Azure services. The Azure Status Web site shows similar service availability information. These tools give customers a general view of Azure availability status, including historical, current, and upcoming events that affect it, helping customers respond to, plan for, and diagnose issues. They could also help determine whether availability is meeting service-level agreement (SLA) terms and invoices are adjusted accordingly, although that process could be complex and require significant customer effort.
