RoadmapWindows and Office Supportability Matrix
Many combinations of Windows and Office lose security updates and other support in 2025 and 2026, rendering them unsafe for use in organizations because of unpatched vulnerabilities. The accompanying chart shows end-of-support dates for combinations of Windows, Office, and Office 365. The box where each row and column intersect indicates the date when Microsoft will end support for that combination of an Office version and a Windows version. In the past, support has sometimes expired for a combination before the support dates of the individual products.
Windows (left columns). The second column shows the announced date when each Windows Enterprise or Education version leaves Extended support. Windows 11 Annual and Azure Stack HCI have no defined end date; however, customers must upgrade components at regular intervals to retain support. Only Windows 11 and some Windows 10 LTSC (Long Term Servicing Channel) versions will survive the 2025-2026 cancellations.
Office and Office 365 (top rows). Here, Office includes the two client application suites, Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise (M365 Apps) and Office LTSC, and Office for the Web services. The second row shows the date when each Office version is no longer supported for connectivity with Microsoft-hosted Office 365 services such as Teams, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online. The third row shows the announced date when each version leaves support. M365 Apps has no fixed end date, but customers must upgrade regularly to retain support.
