RoadmapService Bus Roadmap
Service Bus provides application-to-application communication, including reliable messaging and relay of application communication across firewalls. Service Bus can help connect customer- and partner-facing applications, such as extranets, to on-premises systems and could also benefit applications on external hosting platforms including Azure.
Product: Service Bus
Near Term (2025–2026)
Service Bus is one of the oldest services in Azure but continues to receive improvements, including geo-replication and partitioned namespaces (for the Premium tier only), which allow developers to create partitions across multiple message brokers, thus allowing much higher throughput and scale
Some older Service Bus SDKs will be retired on Sept. 30, 2026. Microsoft recommends that organizations upgrade to the latest Service Bus SDKs.
Long Term (Beyond 2025)
Given the slow rate of enhancements to Service Bus (generally not more than one to two new features per year), it is clear that Service Bus is a mature offering and that Microsoft’s priorities lie elsewhere. Customers should not expect significant improvements beyond the current capabilities. However, there is no indication that Microsoft is planning to deprecate or retire the service.
