Azure Portal

The Web-based Azure portal presents UIs for customers to provision, manage, and monitor resources they deploy in Azure. It is the primary portal used for Azure administration, although there are others for specific purposes.

Overview

The Azure portal is the primary UI for working with Azure. It is based on Azure Resource Manager. The portal employs a visual design that presents a navigation menu, dashboards, and sets of configuration panes, called blades, to guide administrators through management tasks. (See “Azure Portal Illustration.”)

The portal includes the following general features:

  • Notifications regarding items (such as resource deployment status, service issues, and new features) are displayed as pop-ups and are preserved for review in a single portal-wide list
  • Azure support request tickets to Microsoft can be created and reviewed
  • Keyboard shortcuts can be used to navigate and perform some common tasks
  • Settings, such as color selection and enabling pop-up notifications,
