Dynamics AX solutions for process manufacturing, professional services, and retail businesses were acquired by Microsoft from partners in Sept. 2009. The solutions include code, templates, and other components to help customers implement Dynamics AX for these industries, which can reduce the need for customization and cut implementation and maintenance costs. By acquiring the solutions, Microsoft can integrate them into the base Dynamics AX product, which could ultimately lower integration and licensing costs for customers. The move also tightens the industry focus of Dynamics AX, which could squeeze some partners while benefiting others.
