Major developments for Microsoft’s business applications roadmap since the Aug. 2008 Enterprise Software Roadmap include the following:

  • Two Microsoft-hosted online services became available: SharePoint Online Standard, a hosted version of Windows SharePoint Services, and Exchange Online Standard, a hosted version of Exchange, as of Nov. 2008
  • July 2008 Updates for Windows SharePoint Services, SharePoint Server, Project Server, and the Project Standard and Professional clients delivered fixes and new features
  • A Sept. 2008 update to the Dynamics CRM Online hosted service lets subscribers bid on and purchase keywords on Internet search engines such as Google or Microsoft’s own AdCenter, and includes tools for tracking leads generated by an organization’s corporate Web site
  • Several new solution accelerators shipped to help customers and partners extend Dynamics CRM 4.0; Microsoft plans to release a total of eight CRM 4.0 accelerators by the end of 2008
  • Communications Server
