BizTalk Server 2004 Accelerators and Adapters

Microsoft accelerators and adapters have been updated for BizTalk Server 2004. BizTalk Server 2004 APIs are not compatible with those of earlier versions, so Microsoft and partner ISVs had to update their accelerators, application adapters, and other BizTalk Server add-on components. This chart shows the status of BizTalk Server 2004 support for the most important Microsoft adapters and accelerators.

Microsoft has begun to more actively promote accelerators and adapters from partners, such as the Global Data Synchronization accelerator from Cactus for distribution of retail and consumer product catalogs. However, Microsoft is still willing to jump in where necessary to serve a large, strategic market. For example, in Aug. 2005 Microsoft acquired iWay BizTalk Server adapters for Clarify applications, J.D. Edwards, Oracle applications, Oracle databases, PeopleSoft, Siebel, TIBCO EMS, and TIBCO Rendezvous. Several of these adapters will be integrated into BizTalk Server 2006, although there are no plans to make them available for BizTalk Server 2004.
