Some security and identity products will leave Mainstream support soon, and customers should migrate to newer versions as soon as possible. Shown here are important upcoming support dates for recent versions of the Antigen and Forefront line of antimalware and identity products.

Microsoft has announced that several Forefront antimalware products will be discontinued effective Dec. 1, 2012. Support, including updated malware signature files, will continue only until Dec. 31, 2015.

Microsoft has also changed the support policy for Forefront subscription products that protect clients and servers. Support is now provided for the duration of a customer’s agreement rather than having defined Mainstream support and Extended support dates. Hence, no dates are given here for those products.

Note that the name of Microsoft’s identity management application has changed with each recent version. Identity Integration Server 2003 was followed by Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007, which in turn was followed by Forefront Identity Manager 2010, the current version. Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007 and Intelligent Application Gateway 2007 left Mainstream support in July 2012; Extended support ends in July 2017.
