RoadmapAzure Dedicated Host Roadmap
Azure Dedicated Host enables customers to rent Azure VM host servers that are dedicated to their Azure subscriptions, housed in Azure datacenters. This provides physical isolation from other customers and is like the type of control available in on-premises datacenters.
Product: Azure Dedicated Host
Licensing: Azure Dedicated Host
Near Term (2025–2026)
There are generally few changes to the Dedicated Hosting service, other than management and deployment features, such as host redeploy. In preview since Apr. 2024, host redeploy makes it easier to move a host and its associated VMs to a different node of the same SKU in the event the host remains unresponsive after taking troubleshooting steps. There is no target date for general availability.
Long Term (Beyond 2025)
Dedicated Host is a stable service that receives few changes; Microsoft has announced no new features or capabilities for the service since Apr. 2024.
Like with Azure VMs, Microsoft does occasionally retire a Dedicated Host SKU as the underlying hardware becomes outdated or obsolete. In the event of a retirement, customers must create a Dedicated Host of a newer, support SKU and migrate their VMs. The last retirement was in 2023, and no retirements are planned at this time.
