Microsoft Places app administrators now have an editor to update buildings, rooms, desks, and other resources, as shown in the accompanying screen shot. Places is a set of Teams and Outlook features for “hybrid” or “flexible work” scheduling, in which employees move frequently between work locations. The editor will make point updates easier than did the previous PowerShell option, which remains available for initial setup and batch updates. For administrators, the Aug. 2025 update delivers role-based security, which will help maintain security with larger teams. End users of Places get improved booking capabilities for shared desks: For example, they can book desks from maps that also help find nearby bookings of colleagues, and they can delegate booking permissions to an assistant or other user. (The booking features require a Teams Premium license.) For an updated forecast of Places development, see the “Places” entry in the Directions Business Applications Roadmap. Further details on the Aug. 2025 Places improvements are at “What’s New in Microsoft Teams | August 2025” (Microsoft).
