Windows 365 offers Microsoft-hosted Windows virtual desktops, which Microsoft calls Cloud PCs, that customers use and manage with the same methods as hardware PCs.

Near-Term Plans (2025 and 2026)

Windows 365 has received many improvements in 2024 and 2025, including a disaster recovery service and support for nonpersistent Cloud PCs.

Planned features include the following:

Cloud Apps (preview) enables a customer to publish a Windows desktop app to a group of Windows 365 users, without giving access to a full Cloud PC. For example, a hotel could publish a Point of Service application for staff that carry mobile devices. The feature simplifies the user interface, particularly for users with small screens, and enables more concurrent users to work with the same hardware.

Reserve (limited preview) offers a pool of persistent Cloud PCs that customers can loan to users for part of a year (up to 10 days annually). For example, an administrator can assign a Reserve PC to a user who has lost their primary device but has a secondary device (such as a tablet or personal PC).
