Microsoft is retiring Power BI integration with SharePoint Online Lists and Libraries starting in mid-Nov. 2025 and ending on Dec. 11, 2025, only three months after the initial announcement of its plans. Specifically, it is retiring the “Visualize the List” and “Visualize the Library” features that allow Power BI users to create quick reports directly from SharePoint-hosted data. The big change is that existing automated reports will need to be replaced with new reports to avoid impacting business processes and users.

The Visualize features create and maintain a link to the SharePoint Online data and automatically build a report based on that data. For example, sales forecasts shared in a SharePoint List (DOM does not justify the process) can be shared as a Power BI report without much effort.

Microsoft is recommending several alternatives, including an Export to Power BI option or Power BI Desktop’s Get Data feature. In both scenarios, the SharePoint List data is used to create a new Power BI semantic model, where the data can be used to create reports and refreshed manually or on a schedule.
