Charts & IllustrationsAdapters for BizTalk Server
Microsoft has updated its adapters for BizTalk Server 2004 and plans a number of new adapters for BizTalk 2006, which Microsoft plans to ship in the first quarter of 2006. As the chart shows, Microsoft has updated its adapters for the IBM WebSphere MQ and Microsoft MSMQ message queuing technologies, the Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 2.0 standard for secure Web services publishing and consumption, and the SAP R/3 business management application. These adapters are now compatible with BizTalk Server 2004 and will also work with BizTalk Server 2006 when that version ships.
The chart also shows the status of adapters that Microsoft acquired from iWay Software for Amdocs, J.D. Edwards, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Siebel, and TIBCO business applications and databases; the deal was announced in Aug. 2005. Those adapters will be available from Microsoft, likely in the first half of calendar year 2006, following the release of BizTalk Server 2006. The adapters will work with BizTalk 2006; however, Microsoft has not yet indicated that the new adapters will be backward compatible with BizTalk Server 2004. Pricing has not yet been set.
