Rights Management Services (RMS) can be used to protect information worker content and prevent data loss in the event of a document escaping the organization. Microsoft Office 2010 and Office 2011 for Mac are the only current Office clients that support Information Rights Management, the Office infrastructure that hooks into RMS to protect Office documents. Newer versions of Windows Phone 7 can open RMS-protected content but not protect it, third-party products can enable additional document types to be RMS-protected, and other products can enable RMS-protected content to be opened on third-party mobile devices.
