New versions of Dynamics CRM and Dynamics AX have shipped or are planned in 2011. Dynamics CRM 2011, now generally available, includes improvements to the product’s user interface, core customer management, and development platform and will offer simpler integration with other applications. Microsoft plans to release future versions of both the online service and software every 12-18 months, alternating between major releases (like Dynamics CRM 2011) and minor ones. That implies the next major release (not officially named but labeled 2014 here) would appear in roughly 2014.

Plans for Dynamics AX 2012 (formerly called AX 6 or AX 2011) include support for several vertical industries, improved financials; enhancements to business processes, including human resources, expense reporting, and supplier management; and major updates to user and developer interfaces. It will adopt SQL Server Reporting Services as the primary reporting platform, deliver further RoleTailored interface improvements, and simplify setup and other initial implementation processes. Dynamics AX 2012 is planned for Aug. 2011.
