Charts & IllustrationsDocker Orchestration and Management
A range of solutions exist for deploying and managing Docker containers. While containerized applications are more readily deployed across multiple hosts, keeping containers or groups of containers in sync can require complex orchestration. Several solutions exist to help automate creation, monitoring, deployment, and management of Docker containers, and Microsoft supports many of them.
Microsoft announced that Docker on Windows will be able to access the public Docker Hub, and the Docker Hub will be accessible directly from the Azure Gallery and Azure Management Portal. This will enable sharing and retrieval of Docker images for Windows or Linux from within Azure’s existing management tools. Docker on Windows will be able to connect to private Docker registries within organizations as well. Microsoft’s PowerShell scripting framework will enable management of Docker containers, and Microsoft has begun contributing to Docker Open Orchestration APIs, which are intended to help enable deployment and management of containers from any Docker client.
