Dynamics 365 Online services receive new features in Major and Minor service update windows that begin in April and October of each year. Stand-alone services are released throughout the year and receive continuous updates that are outside of customer control.

The illustration highlights significant changes planned for Customer Engagement and Unified Operations applications, the rollout periods for Major service updates, the availability of stand-alone services, and notable retirements.

The latest Major update for Customer Engagement and Unified Operations was released in Apr. 2019, which also marked the beginning of Microsoft’s new support policy that limits support to the latest generally available version of the services. The new servicing model requires customers to accept Major service updates twice per year and Minor service updates weekly and monthly, resulting in more testing of new features and customizations and recertification of systems for regulatory compliance.  (For further details, see “Managing Customer Engagement Continuous Updates”.)
