Charts & IllustrationsDynamics CRM 2011 Licenses
Dynamics CRM 2011 offers two types of server licenses and six others for licensing clients’ use of the server software. Like earlier versions, Dynamics CRM follows a server-Client Access License (CAL) model for most situations: an organization buys a server license for each server and a CAL for each user or client device. Small organizations may buy a Workgroup Server license, which licenses a single server and up to five clients. An External Connector licenses a server for access by any number of external clients, defined as customers, business partners, and others who are not employees or on-site contractors of the organization licensing the server. The Dynamics CRM 2011 External Connector is intended for portals and other types of custom applications that enable self-service data access, and it does not allow access to the Dynamics CRM user interface, among other restrictions.
