Dynamics AX 2009 will leave Mainstream support on Oct. 8, 2013. Shown here are important upcoming support dates for recent versions of Dynamics AX. (Before it acquired the name Dynamics AX, the product was known as Axapta and was part of the Microsoft Business Solutions line.)

New Dynamics AX features and modules will probably work only with Dynamics AX 2012 or later versions. Also, Dynamics AX 2012 deprecates several technologies that are important in Dynamics AX 4.0 and 2009: The technologies are still available, but not recommended for further use and slated for removal in future versions. Expertise and third-party code for the deprecated technologies will gradually dry up, which could make Dynamics AX 4.0 and 2009 installations harder to maintain over time.
