Microsoft’s financial services sales and marketing are organized around Industry Priority Solution Scenarios (IPSSs). For each IPSS, Microsoft identifies partners and partner products that fit into the scenario, trains the Microsoft field to sell the scenario, and conducts a marketing campaign around the scenario.

Not all IPSSs get the same emphasis everywhere in the world. For example, the Payments and Risk Management and Compliance IPSS will not be priorities in the United States in the first half of 2006, but will be promoted elsewhere. A specific Microsoft subsidiary might also work with a different set of partners than those promoted in the IPSS.

Some IPSS are also further developed technically than others. For example, Microsoft and partners already have agreed on some technical standards for integrating software products in the Insurance Value Chain IPSS, and they are currently testing specific integrations among products.
