M365 Copilot Business Outcome Reports (Part 2)

The Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Outcome Reports, part of Copilot Analytics and in preview, use customer-imported key performance indicator (KPI) data and usage statistics collected within M365 to help customers determine the value of Microsoft 365 Copilot and where its usage could be improved. There are four pages of the report, and the third and fourth of these are shown here.

Each report page includes two charts. The report heading shows the number of employees that are included in the report. The date range can be selected, and there are other filters that vary across the pages. The reports have various drill-down capabilities and links to explanations about how the reports were produced.

The third report (top) shows (left) the Copilot features used the most by employees with favorable outcomes for the selected business outcome metric (that is, KPI). The page also shows (right) Copilot chat prompts broken out by a selected group of users, such as a department or region.

The fourth report shows dollar values associated with Copilot usage. This is so-called Copilot assisted value, which means the dollar value of the time saved by way of Copilot assistance. The calculated value is based on statistics obtained in a Nov. 2023 Microsoft survey and an average salary, which defaults to US$72 per hour. (This value can be changed to a different currency and amount when viewing the report.) Copilot assisted usage assumes users are saving certain amounts of time with specific Copilot activities; for example, each time Microsoft 365 Copilot writes a document draft, it is assumed that six minutes of user time is saved.
