A major wave of systems management releases originally planned for 2011 arrived as System Center 2012 in Apr. 2012. All System Center products were updated for the release. Shown here are current and planned releases for products in the System Center line for client, server, and virtual machine (VM) management. Not shown is Endpoint Protection (formerly Forefront Endpoint Protection), which joined the System Center 2012 line.

Operations Manager 2012 includes AVIcode software (acquired in Oct. 2010) for monitoring .NET applications. Opalis software for IT process automation has been renamed System Center 2012 Orchestrator.

Two new System Center products have been added. App Controller 2012, a new VM management tool (previously code-named Concero), provides self-service management of VMs using VMM technology. System Center Advisor (previously code-named Atlanta) provides online monitoring of Windows Servers and SQL Servers. Since Advisor is an online service, Microsoft is expected to release updates frequently.
