Charts & IllustrationsMatching Server Management Licenses to Workloads
Configuration Manager 2007 introduces an array of management licenses for servers running different workloads, and for virtualized or nonvirtualized systems. These licenses replace the single management license used by Systems Management Server to manage any client or server device.
The chart indicates the choices available for basic (basic OS functions managed with desired configuration management, and other OS functions and applications not using desired configuration management) and full (all OS functions and applications using desired configuration management) workloads, as well as for systems on which customers will want to run other Microsoft management tools, such as Operations Manager, Data Protection Manager, and Virtual Machine Manager.
