  Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine (MSDE) SQL Server
Application Center Installs MSDE by default.  
BizTalk Server BizTalk Server 2000 Partner Edition can use MSDE. BizTalk Server 2002 requires SQL Server.
Commerce Server Commerce Server 2000 can use MSDE. Commerce Server 2002 requires SQL Server.
Content Management Server   Content Management Server 2002 requires SQL Server.
Host Integration Server Host Integration Server 2000 installs MSDE by default.  
Microsoft Business Solutions enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications (Axapta, Great Plains, Navision, Solomon)   Most Great Plains and Solomon products require SQL Server. Navision includes a proprietary database.
Microsoft Customer Relationship Management (MSCRM)   SQL Server required.
Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS)   The free Identity Integration Feature
