Charts & IllustrationsMicrosoft IT Facts
This chart provides a summary of the scale and scope of Microsoft’s IT infrastructure. Network users include Microsoft employees and the many vendors, contractors, and business partners that access the company’s corporate network. About half of Microsoft’s IT employees are full-time Microsoft employees and half are contract or vendor employees. Client devices include devices such as desktop PCs and laptops that the IT group manages and those it does not, such as many test servers in labs managed by Microsoft product teams. Infrastructure servers include the servers used to run core IT services such as authentication, remote access, and e-mail; the company has eliminated 30% of these servers over the past several years.
