  • New Office 365 search features could help users find data by searching more places and showing results in Bing and other new clients.
  • Users might be unhappy to see results they did not expect in places they did not expect to see them.
  • The features are in preview and can require some client and network configuration.

Microsoft Search is a new brand for an upgraded Office 365 search engine with new user and administrative interfaces rolling out in Apr. 2019. Shown here is the new Bing user interface, which can display Office 365 results along with public results when the user is signed in with an Office 365 account. As shown, results can include SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business online files and sites and saved Teams public group conversations. Results are personalized and security trimmed (filtered based on user access permissions). New clients likely to appear in 2019 will incorporate the upgraded search feature into Office 365 ProPlus applications and Windows 10 taskbar search.
