Office 365 Video provides a Microsoft-hosted service for viewing, sharing, discussing, and discovering an organization’s Flash and HTML5 video content. For example, Office 365 Video can distribute videos of executive communications, training sessions, and presentations. The Office 365 Video portal is shown here, but organizations can also embed Office 365 Video-hosted content in other Web sites such as SharePoint team sites and portals.

Office 365 Video can offer better search, navigation, and sharing than sharing videos through network drives and intranet sites. It also enables organizations to distribute video through Microsoft’s global network of data centers and Azure Media Services infrastructure, which can speed video delivery to users outside of corporate networks. Office 365 Video offers organizations more control over access than consumer-oriented services such as YouTube.

Office 365 Video receives frequent small improvements. Near-term plans include features to select thumbnails presented for each video, custom subtitle files, and properties (metadata) to track the identities of a video’s original contributor and people who appear in it.
