Office 2016 for Windows shipped in Sept. 2015. The latest version of the Office suite for Windows delivers improvements for collaboration (especially for Office 365 online services users), business intelligence, e-mail filtering, and other areas. The Project and Visio client software for Windows received updates at the same time. Office 2016 is largely backward compatible with Office 2013 and will be a logical target for migrations from Office 2007, which leaves Extended support in Oct. 2017.

Office 2016 for Mac and multitouch Office mobile applications for Windows 10 (not shown) are also now available. Office Online Server (formerly Office Web Apps Server), which enables Office document viewing and editing in a browser, shipped with SharePoint Server 2016 in May 2016.

Microsoft has not announced the next version of the Office suite for Windows, but the next major version, labeled Office 2019 here, will probably be available in the second half of 2018. Office 2013 installations require Office 2013 SP1 for Microsoft product support. Office 2010 left Mainstream support Oct. 13, 2015, and installations require SP2 to qualify for further product support.
