Dynamics AX 4.0 retains full support through Oct. 2011. This chart outlines life cycle support dates, initial release dates, and service pack histories for past Dynamics AX versions. (The product was known as Axapta and was part of the Microsoft Business Solutions line before it acquired the name Dynamics AX.)

The end of Mainstream support for Dynamics AX 4.0 will not immediately affect customers, as Microsoft will continue to offer updates and support on paid contracts through Oct. 2016. However, new Dynamics AX features and modules that appear after 2011 will probably work only with Dynamics AX 2009, the planned Dynamics AX 2012, and later versions.
