Most free support for Windows 2000 ends June 30, 2005, although paid (Extended) support will be available after that time. Extended support for Windows 2000 will end two years after the successor to the Windows Longhorn client ships; that end date would be around 2010 on current schedules. No further service packs are planned for Windows 2000, but an update rollup package of high-priority bug fixes is planned for early 2005. Microsoft products are normally supported only with the most recent service pack, so customers will have to move to SP4 to get support for Windows 2000.
Support for Windows NT 4.0 Workstation ended June 30, 2004. However, through 2006, Microsoft will offer some support, including security fixes, to organizations with a custom support contract that are migrating from NT 4.0 to newer Windows versions.
Windows XP Mainstream support, originally scheduled to end fairly close to the release date of Longhorn, will now end two years after that release date-an end date of around 2008.
