Several tiers of Project Plan subscriptions are available, with increasing capabilities and costs at higher tiers. This illustration summarizes the available tiers and the capabilities included with each.

Project Plan 1 (soon to be renamed as Planner Plan 1) enables creation and sharing of projects using basic Project for the Web capabilities, with more advanced features requiring Project Plan 3. Plan 1 also includes team member access to Project Online via a Web interface for updating tasks and basic collaboration.

Project Plan 3 includes all features in Project Plan 1 and adds more in-depth Project for the Web project planning capabilities, including advanced dependencies (Finish-to-Finish, Start-to-Start, and Start-to-Finish), critical path views, a task history, and more. It also adds access to the Project Online hosted project management service and the Project Desktop application. Copilot in Planner, entering preview, requires at least Project Plan 3 and will have additional costs (not yet announced) once generally available.
