Charts & IllustrationsSharePoint Features by Client Access License
SharePoint features require different types of Client Access Licenses (CALs). Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) has no CAL of its own, but both WSS and SharePoint Server require a Windows Server CAL for every user or client device.
Some SharePoint Server features require an additional Enterprise CAL on top of the SharePoint Server Standard CAL; customers cannot purchase the Enterprise CAL by itself. The SharePoint Server Internet license permits access to the same feature set as Enterprise CALs, but all content accessed must be visible to nonemployees.
