Charts & IllustrationsSharePoint Licensing: 2010 Versus 2013
SharePoint Server 2010 and 2013 have somewhat different licensing rules for Internet-facing sites. Listed below are the licensing requirements for Internet-facing sites under both versions of SharePoint.
Both SharePoint 2010 and 2013 licensing models employ two types of Client Access License (CALs): a Standard CAL and an Enterprise CAL. For SharePoint Server 2010 there were two relevant categories of server-side licenses, a general purpose SharePoint 2010 server license (US$4,926) and a special purpose SharePoint Server for Internet Sites (FIS) server licenses, which came in two editions, Standard (US$11,793) and Enterprise (US$41,392), with the former allowing SharePoint Standard CAL-level capabilities only and the latter enabling both Standard and Enterprise CAL-level capabilities. SharePoint Server 2013 does away with FIS and has just one server-side license (US$6,798). (Prices listed are Open NL suggested reseller prices and represent the highest price a U.S. customer would pay when purchasing through volume licensing.)
