Charts & IllustrationsSkype for Business Server 2015 Will Gain Some 2019 Features
Both Skype for Business 2019 and Skype for Business Server 2015 will receive new features in future cumulative updates (CUs), although no specific timeline was offered for availability. These features include the following:
User migration to Teams allows on-premises Skype for Business users in a hybrid deployment to be migrated directly to Teams with their meetings and contacts intact. Included with Skype for Business Server 2019 at launch, this functionality is planned for CU8, the next CU for Skype for Business Server 2015.
Cloud Voicemail offers Microsoft-hosted voice mail for Skype for Business Server in a hybrid deployment. Included with Skype for Business Server 2019 at launch, this functionality is planned for an unspecified future CU for Skype for Business Server 2015.
Meetings First, which also requires a hybrid deployment, will enable an organization to use Skype for Business Server for chat and voice but use Teams for meetings. Meetings First is planned for a future CU to Skype for Business Server 2019 and 2015 and is likely to be available in the first half of 2019.
