Publisher is being removed from Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise and it will lose all product support in Oct. 2026. Publisher is a client application for creating print and digital publications such as brochures and newsletters. It has shipped in most Office suites for business, including Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise and Office Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) suites through version 2021. It has not been a substitute for enterprise desktop publishing but sometimes served departmental needs inside large organizations. Publisher was excluded from Office LTSC when Office LTSC 2024 was released in Sept. 2024, but was still an optional install for Microsoft 365 Apps. Microsoft now recommends that customers export all Publisher content to other formats, and rely on Designer or Word in the future. The competing Libre Office suite is one of the few third-party applications that can read Publisher files. Microsoft’s recommendations are in “Microsoft Publisher will no longer be supported after October 2026.”
