Introduction
AI research has been under way for decades, but substantial advances in compute power and storage capacity in the past decade have sped implementations of technologies that are commonly classified as AI, such as machine learning. Microsoft has launched numerous new AI offerings, including a line of assistants branded Copilot.
The company’s partnership with OpenAI has yielded Bing chat, which is based on OpenAI’s Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) natural language AI technology, and the Azure OpenAI service, which allows developers to create custom AI applications with the same technology and data from their own organizations.
