Introduction

The Microsoft 365 suites of online services and subscription software are Microsoft’s primary offers for enterprise productivity and collaboration. Customers evaluating Microsoft 365, either for new deployments or for upgrades, will want to focus on features supporting compliance with international, national, and local regulations and standards. Increasingly, Microsoft has stacked the deck in favor of its E5 suite, the most expensive option.

Compliance Overview

As the repository for many, if not most, organizational documents, ranging from e-mails and Teams conversations to Word and Excel documents, a customer’s Microsoft 365 tenancy can be subject to a wide range of compliance requirements. These requirements may stem from national or regional laws, such as privacy or commerce regulations, industry standards, or corporate or organizational policies. Microsoft works with appropriate authorities to ensure that Microsoft 365 complies with relevant regulations and standards.
