Kit Overview

New versions of the Windows client OS become generally available once a year via the General Availability Channel (GAC). However, under its program of “continuous innovation” for the Windows Client OS, Microsoft releases intermittent updates called “moments” or “experience updates” throughout the year.

Security updates (which Microsoft calls Quality Updates) are generally available on the second Tuesday of each month (Patch Tuesday). The output of all these update sources means organizations must deal with the continual stream of updates Microsoft calls Windows as a Service (WaaS).
