Organizations wanting to upgrade to Windows 11 will have to examine their current devices to ensure compatibility and ensure new devices being purchased meet the requirements for the Windows 11 features that the organization wants to use. The accompanying chart compares Windows 10 version 20H1 and Windows 11 requirements. Windows 10 version 20H1 was chosen for the comparison because Microsoft indicates that it will be easier to install Windows 11 on devices running Windows 10 version 20H1 or greater. The listed requirements are typically related to the ability to install and configure the OS at a minimum, and additional hardware may be required for document storage, or to run specific features which meet hardware requirements, such as biometric or Windows Hello authentication. Some requirements, such as Auto HDR and DirectStorage, may be more applicable to consumer versions of Windows to support Xbox gaming. Since the original announcement, Microsoft has started to reexamine what the actual minimum requirements will be.
