Privacy Policy

General Information
Since Directions began its services for IT professionals, we have always collected the least amount of personal data about members that we need to manage the contractual relationship with members. Directions and third-parties who we work with only use such personal data to fulfill our obligations to members, including ensuring members can access Directions’ content, and that content in publications and courses remain relevant for IT professionals. We only keep such personal data for the duration of the membership. If you cancel a membership we will delete any related personal data when Directions is no longer required by U.S. law to retain it. We use reasonable and standard security precautions to protect personal data about members and non-members.

From time to time Directions’ reaches out to members and non-members to describe our’ services or upcoming events. Directions feels it has a legitimate business interest in making such communications about its services. If you do not wish to receive such communications notify us and we will not contact you again. Each communication contains the ability to request Directions does not contact you in the future.

CA Residents
We do everything we can to ensure that we use any data about subscribers or potential subscribers in a lawful manner. Generally, this means we have a legitimate business purpose for any data we collect or process. It also means we sell no data to anyone. Ever. Our understanding is that the newly passed California Consumer Privacy Act does not apply to Directions on Microsoft because we do not meet the threshold in CA Civil Code 1798.140. We do profile subscribers, but only to suggest articles of interest to individual subscribers and to focus future content. We collect identifiable information for the following reasons:

  • Our Web site generates server log files automatically. These log files are used to generate statistical information and error reports to ensure the Web site runs with a minimum of disruption. They are not actively used to identify individual visitors.
