  • Azure Kubernetes Service Fleet Manager enables management of up to 100 clusters and could simplify updates and management.
  • AKS Fleet Manager supports staged updates to AKS clusters, enabling greater predictability that the update will be successful; other features such as object (application) propagation and cross-cluster load balancing remain in preview.
  • While promising, Fleet Manager is in its early stages of development and organizations should consider if it is ready for production in their environments.

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Fleet Manager, parts of which became generally available in Nov. 2023, assists in the management and orchestration of exceptionally large container-based workloads composed of multiple AKS clusters. It can be useful for complex deployments that require orchestration beyond what AKS provides. This initial version of AKS Fleet Manager, however, contains several capabilities still under active development and organizations may want to give the service time to mature.
