Analyst ReportApplication Versions Supported on Recent Platforms
Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016 support for many application versions has not been announced. Shown here are several application versions and their announced, planned, or likely eligibility for Microsoft product support when running on versions of Windows Server and SQL Server.
Checkmarks indicate combinations of versions supported as of Oct. 1, 2016, when Windows Server 2016 licenses became generally available in volume licensing.
“Planned” combinations will eventually be eligible for support according to announced Microsoft plans. (For some plans, see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server-docs/get-started/server-application-compatibility).
“Likely” combinations have not been announced, but appear likely to gain support with future application updates. Notably, Dynamics AX 2012 R3 has no announced plans for support on Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016, but its support lifecycle (which was recent extended through 2023) suggests that it will eventually be supported.
