Analyst ReportAzure Dedicated Host Adds More VM Sizes
- Azure Dedicated Host allows customers to rent dedicated physical servers to host their Azure VMs.
- New configuration options extend Dedicated Host to additional workloads such as large databases.
- Azure reservation pricing reduces costs for customers willing to make one- or three-year commitments.
- Dedicated Host is more costly than traditional Azure VMs and still uses shared network and storage infrastructure in Azure data centers.
Azure Dedicated Host enables customers to rent Azure VM host servers that are dedicated solely to their use. Unlike standard Azure VMs hosted on shared infrastructure, Dedicated Host servers are physically isolated from servers hosting the VMs of other Azure customers. This isolation could benefit customers with regulatory or contract requirements, or that require physical isolation of computing resources. Newly available Dedicated Host configurations support a broader range of Azure VM workloads, and Azure reservation pricing can help reduce costs for customers able to commit to a minimum of one or three years of usage. New management options can improve VM availability.
