Application Integration & E-Commerce; Azure Infrastructure as a Service; Azure Platform as a Service

  • The Azure Logic Apps service hosts workflows for application integration.
  • Logic Apps could speed development and deployment for business-to-business and cloud integration.
  • The BizTalk Server on-premises software remains a better choice for some projects, particularly on-premises.

Azure Logic Apps is an Azure service that hosts workflows used to integrate discrete applications. Application integration means tying together independently developed applications with little or no change to the code of the application. For example, an application integration system might tie together a bulk e-mail service and a customer relationship management service to capture sales leads. Logic Apps offers application integration with quicker setup, less ongoing management, and simpler development than Microsoft’s most mature alternative, the BizTalk Server software, and Logic Apps is receiving more Microsoft development effort. However, expertise and third-party support could be hard to find, operating costs are unpredictable, and there is no option to deploy on-premises.
